Workshops: paper art in progress

The Institute organizes papermaking expeditions to traditional handmade paper mills and villages in various parts of the world. 2006 features a journey through Southwest China, focusing on hand papermaking in remote villages of Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces.

A series of workshops on many aspects of papermaking and paper art have been arranged. The majority of programs are held at our Carriage House Paper Studio, at 79 Guernsey Street, Brooklyn, New York. The  New York studio is also a major supplier of materials and equipment for hand papermakers. One intensive workshop "Papermaking-in-Depth" is offered in the summer at the Carriage House in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Based upon more than 30 years of field research by the Koretskys in traditional hand papermaking throughout the world, the Institute has embarked upon the production of videos that document old papermaking that still exists. Ten videos, in DVD form, have already been produced. More are planned.
